Professors for a Strong Israel

Statement to the Press - 2 December 2002

Re: Don't give them land!

Following Prime Minister Sharon's declaration of his readiness to create a Palestinian state with territorial contiguity, Professors for a Strong Israel declares once again that a Palestinian State, in any form, would be a disaster for Israel, a threat to her existence.

After a "peace process" that brought us the blood-soaked Oslo War, we can appreciate the wisdom of those who cried, "Don't give them guns!" It was as clear then as it is now that the guns would be used against Israel, not against terror. The same applies to giving the terrorists land in which to operate. We should act like a normal nation, which refuses to hand its enemies arms and bases, and certainly acts to deny them a state.

The only solution to the Jewish-Arab problem in the Land of Israel is territorial compromise -- with a border along the Jordan River. Territorial contiguity for a Palestinian state west of the Jordan is a sure recipe for unending danger to Israel's security and well-being.
