Professors for a Strong Israel
Statement to the Press - 3 May 2004
Re: Following the Likud referendum
Professors for a Strong Israel congratulates all those who worked to bring
about the impressive victory over the Prime Minister's withdrawal plan in the Likud
referendum -- ministers, MK's, the Yesha Council, the extra-parliamentary
organizations, the thousands of activists and of course the hundred thousand
Likud members who voted.
Naturally, we realize that this was only one battle; the campaign for the restoration of
Jewish and Zionist values will yet be a long one.
We remind our friends and allies that it is not yet time to rest on their
laurels.
The effort to win the hearts of the nation, successful so far, must continue.
We call on the Prime Minister to respect the Likud platform and the will of
his voters, as displayed democratically yesterday.
We call on him to return to his old nature and to his movement, and to lead
the state and the nation to victory in the Oslo War.
If this is not his way then he must draw personal conclusions and follow
his policy down to oblivion.
