Professors for a Strong Israel

Statement to the Press - 4 May 2004

Re: A better disengagement plan

Professors for a Strong Israel condemns the idea, rumored to come from the Prime Minister's office, of continuing with the original "disengagement" plan in spite of its sound rejection by the Likud membership. We offer instead an improved plan, one that is sure to command wide support in the country because it works to Israel's advantage, not the enemy's. The plan's components:
  1. Annex immediately the areas that are needed for Israel's security.
  2. Disengage from the terrorists by building fences around their cities.
  3. Destroy the Palestinian Terror Authority and the PLO/Hamas terrorist army.
This plan fulfills the Prime Minister's intention of taking unilateral action to enhance Israel's security in the absence of a negotiating partner.

If all Mr. Sharon has to offer is another plan for desertion in the face of terrorism, he should resign to make way for a new leadership, untainted by defeatism.
