Professors for a Strong Israel

Statement to the Press - 5 December 2005

Re: Dr. Kaare Kristiansen, in memoriam

We at Professors for a Strong Israel wish to express our sorrow at the passing of Dr. Kaare Kristiansen, friend of Israel and of the Jewish people, and to offer our condolences to his family.

Dr. Kristiansen was a Minister and Member of Parliament in Norway, as well as a holder of many other public positions. Among the latter was membership in the prestigious committee that awards the Nobel Peace Prize. As a man of honor, of values, and of principles he resigned from the committee when it decided to award the Peace Prize to the enemy of peace, Arafat the arch-terrorist. Ever after, even as Israel and the world applauded Arafat and danced around him, Dr. Kristiansen worked to publicize the truth about Arafat and his continuing terrorist activity.

We call on organizations and municipalities in Israel to act to memorialize this Righteous Gentile and friend.
