Professors for a Strong Israel

Statement to the Press - 7 August 2006

Re: We need determination, not vacillation

Ehud Olmert speaks with determination for the microphone, but vacillates in the face of the enemy. There is no way to fight a war against this determined enemy without naming it a war; without giving the IDF the necessary freedom of action; without carrying the war to the areas from which the missiles are coming (rather than sticking to the narrow border zone); without giving the home front the resources it needs to function. The war is being fought at a pace that can only be seen as waiting for an imposed cease-fire, which means a victory for Hezbollah. Professors for a Strong Israel reminds Olmert that the purpose of this war is the defeat of the true enemy, not the furthering of the "convergence" plan. If he can't run the war with seriousness and resolve, he should go home and let others carry on.
