Re: Preclusion of illegal orders
Even as the attorney general is beginning proceedings against Mrs.
Daniela Weiss and Mr. Noam Livnat because of their legitimate political
activity:
Dr. Ron Breiman and Prof. Benjamin Svetitsky, respectively chairman and member
of the executive board of Professors for a Strong Israel, have written to the
attorney general to call his attention to the many statements they have issued
on behalf of PSI that:
- equate the "disengagement" with ethnic cleansing;
- declare the transfer order to be illegal and immoral;
- draw the unavoidable conclusion that this order must not be issued and
must not be carried out.
The letter also states once more that an order to the security forces to force
citizens from their homes would be a patently illegal order, that must not
be given and must not be carried out. This opinion will continue to be
expressed publicly.
