Professors for a Strong Israel

Statement to the Press - 11 April 2000

Re: Don't give them contiguity!

Noting the dangerous decline in Israeli power on all fronts, Professors for a Strong Israel warns of the danger inherent in the Prime Minister's intention of granting the Palestinian Authority territorial contiguity. As long as the cities already in Arab hands remain isolated pockets, the danger they pose to Jews on both sides of the "Green Line" is only moderate. But the creation of Palestinian territorial contiguity will come at the expense of turning Jewish towns into islands in a hostile Arab sea and of detaching the Jordan Valley from the Coastal Plain. It will create the underpinnings of a Palestinian state, a sure recipe for continual war in the western portion of the Land of Israel.
