Re: The Association Tax

The necessity of a new economic plan, which is to deal with the grave conditions created by the Government of the left, has forced the new Government to increase the burden on salaried employees. It is incumbent on the Government to consider how it may ameliorate the injury done to the salaried employees, and it is thus appropriate to reconsider the justice and wisdom of collecting the Association Tax.

Those employees who are members of the Histadrut pay dues to their union. Those many who are not are forced to pay the Association Tax which goes to a union the do not wish to join. They are thus forced to help fund the apparatus of the Histadrut and its political activities which attack the elected Government.

Repeal of the Association Tax will reduce the number of citizens who pay money to the Histadrut against their will, increase the surplus income of many citizens, and minimize any injury done them by the new economic plan. Professors for a Strong Israel calls on the Government to repeal the Association Tax and thus to create a situation where only those employees who wish to do so will fund the Histadrut apparatus and its activities.
