Professors for a Strong Israel

Statement to the Press - 17 June 1995

Re: The Annual Meeting of PSI

The Annual Meeting of Professors for a Strong Israel was held in Giv'at Ze'ev, with the theme of Greater Jerusalem and against the background of the expected struggle to save Jewish settlement in Yesha and the Golan.

In the course of the meeting the participants traveled by bus to several sites in Greater Jerusalem, and visited the protest tent set up by Mr. Shmuel Meir, Vice-Mayor of Jerusalem, near the terrorist command post in Jerusalem, Orient House.

The meeting also featured elections of the chairman and council of PSI. The new chairman, Professor Israel Hanukoglu, is taking the place of Professor Ariel Cohen, currently Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem.

The group calls for protection of the civil and property rights of the Jewish settlers in Ma'aleh Israel, the new neighborhood erected this week in Barkan in Samaria.
