Professors for a Strong Israel

Statement to the Press - 1 April 2000

Re: The Prime Minister and Hevron

Professors for a Strong Israel wishes to express its appreciation for the good wishes sent by the Prime Minister to the Jewish community of Hevron on the 32nd anniversary of its renewal. We trust that the tone of the letter will find further expression in the improvement of the community's security and its living conditions and in ensuring territorial contiguity between it and Kiryat Arba.

We hope that this is a harbinger as well of an awakening in Government circles to the folly of building peace on the basis of endangering Jews in their own homeland. We expect the Prime Minister to authorize the paving of a new approach road to Negohot, in place of the death trap that passes through territory occupied by Arafat's terrorists.

We deplore the extreme Left's attack on the Prime Minister in the wake of his letter to the Israeli citizens living in Hevron.
