Re: The lawyer and the putsch
Professors for a Strong Israel wishes to express its satisfaction with the
Attorney General in his aggressive investigation of the leaked document in
the State Prosecutor's Office. We emphasize that the essential issue here
is not freedom of the press -- which we support -- but the fact that a high-level state official
broke the law and breached the trust of her office in order to bring about
political change. This can only erode further the confidence of the
country in the institutions of law enforcement, which have long been
suspected of political bias and political involvement. We urge the
Attorney General to continue to a public
housecleaning of the system he heads.
