Professors for a Strong Israel
Statement to the Press - 27 February 2003
Re: Best wishes to the new government
As the new government is sworn in, Professors for a Strong Israel -
- wishes the government success in the difficult tasks it faces;
- wishes the Prime Minister success in leading the nation to victory
in the Oslo War, with the expectation that the military victory will not
be thrown away in a diplomatic defeat along the lines of a Bush Plan or
a Road Map -- code names for a Palestinian state west of the Jordan,
and hence for unending war;
- wishes the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister success in
rehabilitating Israel's economy, a difficult task that requires a quick
conclusion of the war -- by defeating the enemy, not by surrendering;
- recommends to the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister an
immediate budget cut of 2 billion shekels, through cancellation of the
"security fence" along the Green Line.
We emphasize once again that the fence is a political instrument, useless for
security and a waste of money; it draws a dangerous distinction between Jews
living on either side of the Green Line, with a view towards abandoning the
Jews of Yesha or making them subject to ethnic cleansing.
