Professors for a Strong Israel
Statement to the Press -
29 May 1999
Re: For enlargement of Ma'aleh Adumim
Professors for a Strong Israel calls upon the Prime Minister elect to obey
the principle of continuity in government policy, and thus to
carry out the decisions made by the previous governments regarding the
enlargement of Ma'aleh Adumim and the establishment of the vital territorial
connection between Ma'aleh Adumim and Jerusalem.
We warn Ehud Barak against yielding to the demands of the left wing extremists
as stated by Yossi Beilin and Yossi Sarid.
We recall that Beilin is the person who drew the State of Israel and the
late Yitzhak Rabin into the Oslo trap and who conducted a personal
and independent foreign
policy, bypassing democratically elected Prime Ministers.
Amazingly, he failed
to leave the political scene as expected after his colossal, bloody failure.
We urge Ehud Barak, who promised not to yield to extremists,
to take these facts into consideration when choosing the members of his
government.
