Professors for a Strong Israel
Statement to the Press - 31 December 2000
Re: Deploring the murder, cautioning against lawlessness, demanding action
In the wake of the attack near Ofra on the family of Rabbi Binyamin Ze'ev Kahane, in which the parents were killed and five children wounded, Professors for a Strong Israel
- deplores yet another murder carried out by Arafat's terrorists as part of the Oslo process;
- places responsibility as well on Barak, Ben-Ami, and Beilin, who continue to negotiate under fire, neglect Israel's security, and beg the arch-terrorist to take Israel's holiest places;
- cautions citizens against taking the law into their hands and against injuring Arabs who have no connection with the attack;
- demands that the government take responsibility for the security of Israel's citizens, instead of continuing the present vacuum that abandons them to choose between falling to Arafat's bullets and taking up arms themselves;
- demands that the government heed the warnings of the heads of the defense establishment about the serious consequences of Arafat's and Clinton's dictates;
- demands that Barak understand at last that this is the Oslo War, not an Oslo peace, and that he allow the IDF to win it.
