Professors for a Strong Israel

Statement to the Press - 4 June 2000

Re: Of incitement and violence

Professors for a Strong Israel deplores violence and the threat of violence, including the threat of "transfer" or abandonment of Jewish communities and their residents. We state again that the removal of Jews from their homes in their own land is both inhuman and anti-Zionist.

We demand a halt to the propaganda campaign being waged by the media, mobilized for the policies of the extreme Left. This campaign has the aim of silencing half the nation and stigmatizing it as the "extreme Right" that, as it were, brought about the Rabin assassination. We deplore as well the attacks on the residents of Yesha; we point out that the latter are at the forefront of an existential struggle for the life of the State of Israel and of its citizens on both sides of the "Green Line."

We are reminded at this point of the provocations of GSS agent Avishai Raviv, fictions used to this day for the purpose of defamation and assigning collective blame to the nationalist camp. We fear that the continuing delay in Raviv's trial is designed to cover the failures of his superiors in the GSS, some of whom figure prominently in the attacks against the Zionist public. We recall that those who profited from the Rabin assassination were the Left, who tried to capitalize on the chaos it left by advancing the date of the 1996 elections.

We call on the Government to call off immediately the giveaway talks with terrorist-in-chief Arafat. It is time to unite the nation in order to face the dangers to its security that were created by the Oslo agreements.
