Professors for a Strong Israel

Statement to the Press - 5 May 2000

Re: Who's getting how much?

The Comptroller General's report, published this week, deals at length with the continuing neglect that is hindering the development of the southern part of the country. For the sake of comparison, the report points out the large difference between per capita government investment in the south on the one hand and in Judea and Samaria on the other. Such comparisons do an injustice to the latter group and recall the campaign propaganda of the Left, which claimed that the development of Judea and Samaria was accomplished at the expense of develpment towns elsewhere.

Professors for a Strong Israel calls on the Comptroller General to publicize as well the extent of government investment in other segments of the population. We'd like to know how much is spent on the real-estate kibbutzim that profit hugely from the infamous kibbutz aid program, and on certain established communities such as Kochav Yair (home of the "Prime Minister of all the people").
