Re: A casino in Israel?
Professors for a Strong Israel supports the strong stand taken by
Justice Minister Yossi Beilin against setting up a legal casino in Israel.
The decision of Prime Minister Ehud Barak to allow the creation of a
legal gambling house is based purely on economic considerations. When moral
values are weighed against economic gains, money should not be allowed to
tilt the balance. It is the weaker members of society who will be affected most seriously by the problems and dangers stemming from the operation of a casino. We support
Mr. Beilin in his efforts to remove this bane
of society from public deliberation.
